Two things changed this year, and most McDonald’s deals advice online has not caught up with either. On 21 April 2026 McDonald’s rebuilt the McValue menu, adding an Under $3 Menu and a $4 Breakfast Meal Deal. The Under $3 Menu did not sit alongside the old offer, it replaced it: Buy One Add One for $1 is gone. If a guide is still telling you to use it, that guide is out of date.
The second change is less visible but matters more over time. From 1 January 2026 McDonald’s updated its franchising standards so that it now assesses franchisee pricing against the value the brand wants to project, with penalties that extend as far as revoking a licence. Franchisees still set their own prices, but for the first time corporate is judging those decisions. The intent is to narrow the gap between the cheapest and most expensive restaurants.

The newest of the McDonald’s deals and the replacement for Buy One Add One. Ten items priced below three dollars, available all day rather than only at breakfast, with McDonald’s rotating a spotlight item at an even lower price for limited periods. This is the closest thing to a modern Dollar Menu the chain runs.

The single most searched of all McDonald’s deals and the one that started the current value push when it launched in June 2024. A $5 Meal Deal gets you a McChicken or McDouble, four piece McNuggets, small fries and a small drink. The $6 tier upgrades the sandwich to a Daily Double. Both beat any other route to a full meal by a wide margin.

A sandwich, hash browns and a small coffee for four dollars, which undercuts the standard breakfast combo by roughly four dollars. The Daily Double is a two patty burger with lettuce, tomato and mayo instead of the pickle and mustard build on a McDouble. It sits on the value tier permanently at most restaurants and anchors the $6 Meal Deal. Beyond it, McDonald’s runs rotating offers that appear for a few weeks then move on, which is why deals advice dates so quickly.

Extra Value Meal is simply McDonald’s official name for a combo, meaning an entrée with medium fries and a medium drink. It is not part of the McValue programme and it is not a deal in the promotional sense, which causes constant confusion because the word value appears in both. A combo saves you roughly the cost of the drink against buying the three items separately.
Where it differs from the McDonald’s deals above is that an Extra Value Meal is always available and always priced the same, whereas the Meal Deals are promotional pricing that McDonald’s can withdraw. If you want the cheapest full meal, a $5 Meal Deal beats every Extra Value Meal on the board.

The original Dollar Menu ran from 2002 and was replaced by the $1 $2 $3 Dollar Menu in 2018, which itself was wound down as franchisees found the pricing unsustainable. McValue took its place in January 2025 and was rebuilt again in April 2026. Nothing on the current McDonald’s deals lineup is priced at a dollar.
The nearest equivalent is the Under $3 Menu, where the cheapest item is a Sausage Biscuit at $1.89. If you specifically want the lowest possible spend rather than the best value, that is where to look.

The $5 Meal Deal is the strongest single offer McDonald’s runs. At $5.00 for a sandwich, nuggets, fries and a drink it undercuts the equivalent Extra Value Meal by roughly $3 and beats à la carte by more than $5.
Bundle Boxes are the only McDonald’s deals aimed at groups rather than individuals, and they are the cheapest way to feed a family. Per person they land below what two $5 Meal Deals would cost, though you get less choice over what goes in.
