Every drink in one table at medium size, sorted by price. Medium is the size most people order and the one that appears in combo meals. The sections below break these into categories with all three sizes, calories and caffeine. If you want the coffee line specifically, that has its own page at McCafé menu prices.

McDonald’s added six new drinks to the US menu on 6 May 2026, the biggest beverage expansion the chain has run in years and the first designed to compete with dedicated drink shops rather than simply pour soda. All six are permanent menu items rather than a limited time promotion, which is the question most people arrive here asking. Prices run $2.99 to $4.79 depending on the drink and size.
The new drinks split into two halves: three Refresher drinks built on a lemonade base, and three crafted sodas finished with cold foam. The full lineup is below, then each half is broken out with the detail that separates them.
| NEW DRINK | SMALL | MED | LARGE | CALORIES | TYPE |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dirty Dr Pepper | $2.99 | $3.39 | $3.89 | 300 | Soda |
| Orange Dream | $3.49 | $3.89 | $4.29 | 320 | Soda |
| Strawberry Watermelon Refresher | $3.69 | $4.09 | $4.59 | 210 | Refresher |
| Mango Pineapple Refresher | $3.79 | $4.19 | $4.59 | 250 | Refresher |
| Blackberry Passion Fruit Refresher | $3.79 | $4.19 | $4.49 | 230 | Refresher |
| Sprite Berry Blast | $3.79 | $4.29 | $4.79 | 290 | Soda |
Specialty drinks is McDonald’s own name for this range, and it means something specific: a drink built with a technique rather than poured from a fountain tap. Three mechanics are new to the chain here. Freeze dried fruit that floats on top instead of syrup stirred through. Popping boba, the first time McDonald’s has put pearls in anything. And cold foam, borrowed straight from specialty coffee and used on all three sodas.
That is also why availability varies. A fountain drink needs a tap; a specialty drink needs equipment, stock and crew training, so a minority of restaurants rolled these out later than the May launch date. The two halves of the range are below.
The three Refreshers share a lemonade base and all contain roughly 70mg of caffeine per medium, which is triple a Coca-Cola and the single most surprising thing about them. Because they are marketed as fruit drinks, that caffeine is easy to miss on the board. Each carries a different inclusion rather than a different syrup, which is what separates them from a standard flavoured lemonade.
| REFRESHER | MED | CAL | CAFFEINE | INCLUSION |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Strawberry Watermelon Refresher
Tart strawberry with a watermelon finish, the lightest of the three
|
$4.09 | 210 | 70mg | Freeze dried strawberry |
Mango Pineapple Refresher
Tropical and sweeter, the only McDonald's item with boba
|
$4.19 | 250 | 70mg | Strawberry popping boba |
Blackberry Passion Fruit Refresher
The most subtle, closest to a plain blackberry lemonade
|
$4.19 | 230 | 70mg | Dragon fruit pieces |
Refreshers are the only fruit drinks on the menu containing caffeine. Full comparison in the caffeine chart below
he three crafted sodas take a familiar fountain drink and top it with cold foam, which sits on the surface and melts down through the drink as you get through it. Only Dirty Dr Pepper carries caffeine, inherited from the Dr Pepper base at 40mg. Sprite Berry Blast and Orange Dream contain none at all, which makes Orange Dream the caffeine free pick if you want something that feels like a treat.
| CRAFTED SODA | MED | CAL | CAFFEINE | BASE |

Dirty Dr Pepper

$4.29 | 290 | 0mg | Sprite |
Fan invented versions of all three existed for years before the official launch. The unofficial builds are on McDonald’s secret menu.
Yes. All six new drinks were introduced as permanent menu items rather than a limited time run, and McDonald’s has been explicit about that in its own launch material. That distinguishes them from the seasonal drinks the chain rotates through, such as the Shamrock Shake, which appears for a few weeks each spring and then disappears.
What can still change is availability at your specific restaurant. Cold foam and boba both need equipment and crew training, so some locations were slower to stock the range. If a Refresher or crafted soda is missing from the board at yours, check the app before assuming it has been withdrawn. Anything genuinely seasonal is tracked separately on McDonald’s limited time menu.
Fountain drinks are the cheapest thing on the entire McDonald’s board and the category where the size jump matters least: going from small to large costs about a dollar sixty and roughly doubles the volume. All fountain drinks come with free refills at restaurants with a self serve station, which most locations removed during 2020 and only some brought back, so check before assuming.
Worth knowing on caffeine: Diet Coke actually contains more caffeine than regular Coca-Cola at the same size, and Sprite, Fanta and Hi-C contain none at all. The full breakdown is in the caffeine table further down.

Fountain drinks are included in every Extra Value Meal. Upgrading the combo drink costs from 60 cents.
Sweet Tea is the value pick of the entire drinks menu. At $2.19 for a medium it undercuts every soda except the small sizes, and in Southern states many restaurants price it lower still as a local staple. The unsweetened version costs the same and carries zero calories with the same caffeine, which makes it the cheapest zero calorie caffeinated drink McDonald’s sells.

Frozen carbonated drinks are the lowest calorie sweet option on the menu by a wide margin. A medium Frozen Coca-Cola carries 80 calories against 210 for the same size poured from the fountain, because the ice displaces most of the syrup volume. Availability is the catch: these need a dedicated machine, so a lot of smaller restaurants do not carry them at all and the flavour lineup rotates seasonally.

Frozen Coca-Cola Classic |

Frozen drinks and McFlurry come from different machines, so one being down does not mean both are.
Smoothies are the most expensive non coffee drinks on the menu and the ones people most often assume are the healthy choice. A large Strawberry Banana carries 330 calories, which is more than a Sausage McMuffin, though it does come with a full serving of fruit and no caffeine. They are blended to order, so expect a longer wait at the drive thru than any other drink here.

Milkshakes are a separate category made with soft serve rather than fruit. Prices on McDonald’s milkshake prices.
McCafé is where McDonald’s undercuts the coffee shops most sharply. A medium latte at $4.19 lands well below what a dedicated chain charges for the same drink, and Premium Roast Coffee is often the single cheapest hot item in the building. The espresso drinks use the same machines nationally, so quality is more consistent than most people expect from fast food coffee.
Every size, every flavour and the seasonal rotations are on McCafé menu prices, and the iced range has its own page at McDonald’s iced coffee price.

No. McDonald’s USA does not sell Red Bull, Monster, Celsius or any branded energy drink, and there has been no announcement of any plan to add them. If you searched for this expecting to find one on the board, the answer is that the category does not exist at McDonald’s the way it does at convenience stores or some other chains.
What does exist is caffeine, and more of it than most people assume. The three new Refreshers carry roughly 70mg per medium, which is triple a medium Coca-Cola and about the same as a can of most mainstream energy drinks. Because they are marketed as fruit drinks rather than energy products, that caffeine is easy to miss. If a caffeine hit is what you actually want, the table below shows where it is.

Medium size, in milligrams. No other McDonald’s drinks guide publishes this in one place, and it matters more than it used to now that three fruit drinks on the menu contain caffeine without saying so on the cup. For reference, the FDA cites 400mg a day as the level most healthy adults can consume without issue.

Diet Coke contains more caffeine than regular Coca-Cola, which surprises most people. Full nutrition on McDonald’s calorie chart.
The $1 Any Size Drink promotion that ran for years is retired nationally, but the pricing idea survives in two places. Medium Premium Roast Coffee appears on the Under $3 breakfast list at most restaurants, and app exclusive offers frequently drop a medium soft drink to around a dollar. Neither is guaranteed at your location because both are franchise decisions.
During breakfast hours the drink lineup is the same as the rest of the day with coffee taking the lead role. A small Premium Roast is the default in every breakfast combo, and swapping it for juice or a larger coffee carries an upcharge from 60 cents. Full morning pricing is on McDonald’s breakfast menu and the cutoff times are on breakfast hours.

Drinks carry the widest proportional price gap of any category on the McDonald’s menu, because a forty cent difference on a $2.39 soda is a far bigger swing than a dollar on an eight dollar platter. Around 95 percent of US restaurants are franchisee owned and set their own board, and drinks are usually the first line adjusted when costs rise.

Six specialty drinks launched on 6 May 2026. Three Refreshers on a lemonade base: Strawberry Watermelon, Mango Pineapple and Blackberry Passion Fruit. Three crafted sodas with cold foam: Sprite Berry Blast, Dirty Dr Pepper and Orange Dream. Prices run $2.99 to $4.79 depending on drink and size.
Yes. All six were launched as permanent menu items rather than a limited time promotion. Availability at a specific restaurant can still lag because cold foam and boba need equipment and training.
Yes, in one drink. The Mango Pineapple Refresher contains strawberry popping boba pearls. It is currently the only item on the entire McDonald’s menu with boba.
No. McDonald’s USA does not sell Red Bull, Monster, Celsius or any branded energy drink. The three new Refreshers do contain around 70mg of caffeine per medium, which is roughly comparable to a standard energy drink can
A kids soft drink starts at $1.29, a medium fountain soda runs $2.39 to $2.59, and the most expensive drink on the menu is a large Strawberry Banana Smoothie at $5.39. The new specialty drinks sit between $2.99 and $4.79.
A kids extra small soft drink at $1.29. Among regular sizes, a small Sprite or Dr Pepper at $1.59 is the lowest, and a small Sweet Tea at $1.49 undercuts both where it is stocked.
A medium Americano at 178mg, followed by the Mocha Latte at 167mg and Premium Roast Coffee at 145mg. Among non coffee drinks the three Refreshers lead at around 70mg.
Not as a national promotion. The $1 Any Size Drink deal is retired, though app exclusive offers regularly bring a medium drink close to that price and some franchises run their own version locally.
Only at restaurants with a self serve fountain in the dining room, and many removed those in 2020 without bringing them back. Drive thru and counter orders do not include refills anywhere.
Four. Diet Coke, Diet Dr Pepper, Unsweetened Iced Tea and Dasani bottled water. Black Premium Roast Coffee and Americano are near zero at 5 to 10 calories before anything is added.
Cold foam and boba need specific equipment and crew training, so a minority of restaurants rolled them out later than the May launch. Check the app for your location rather than assuming they have been withdrawn.
Prices shown are based on typical U.S. McDonald’s menu prices as of August 2026 and may vary by location. Check your local restaurant or McDonald’s app for the latest prices.
Priya has tracked fast food pricing since 2019. Every figure on this page comes from our own field survey: eight researchers photograph restaurant menu boards at 62 locations across 14 states in the first week of each month, and we publish the median. We do not use app pricing, which runs higher, and we do not carry figures forward from a previous month without re-checking them.
